Signs You Need A New Propane Tank

admin   -   05:19 pm  -   July 08th, 2022

Propane tanks last a long time. That doesn’t mean they are immune to the effects of aging and the environment! That’s why it is very important that you check on your propane tank to see if it’s time for a replacement.

When inspecting your tank and propane appliances, here are indicators you should keep an eye out for:

Pilot Light Doesn’t Stay Lit

Pilot lights need a steady, continuous stream of propane to stay lit. If you notice the pilot light isn't staying lit, there is likely an issue with the propane tank.

Different Colored Flame

A blue flame on your propane-burning appliances is a sign that everything is working okay! If you notice yellow or orange flames on many appliances? There could be a problem with the tank.

Smell of Propane Around the Tank

If you smell propane around the tank during a physical inspection, call us right away to check for leaks.

Rust Developing on the Tank

If you notice rust on your tank, let us know! Rust can cause the walls of the tank to start thinning, which can lead to propane leaks.

Are you worried about the state of your propane tank? Have you noticed any of the signs mentioned above? Don’t wait to call Alger Energy right away to get the help you need.
