Important Propane Safety Tips

admin   -   03:00 pm  -   October 15th, 2026

No matter what month it is, some folks like grilling food all year long! After all, nothing beats the taste of a juicy steak or sizzling sausages cooked on a propane grill.

But even though you may be the “King (or Queen) of the Grill,” there’s one important safety tip you should be aware of:

Never operate a propane-powered gas grill inside the home! Doing so creates a severe risk of fatal carbon monoxide poisoning and accidental house fires!

In addition to your propane grill, you should NEVER use any outdoor propane appliance indoors! Only use appliances indoors that are designed and approved for indoor use, such as a propane-fired fireplace, kitchen range, or clothes dryer.

Here are two more safety tips to keep you and your family safe:

  1. Practice proper tank storage: Propane tanks should always be stored outside in a dry place, on an even surface, and should have ample ventilation. NEVER store or place a propane cylinder indoors or in an enclosed area such as a basement, garage, shed, or tent.

  2. Enroll in our automatic delivery program: Running out of propane can cause serious problems for your heating equipment and result in costly repairs. Enrolling in automatic deliveries will greatly reduce the chance of running out of fuel and will increase your peace of mind.

Efficient, environmentally-friendly versatile propane is a very safe fuel, but it is important to practice proper safety techniques to limit propane incidents at home so you can enjoy all the benefits that propane — and Alger Oil & Propane — have to offer.
